Understood… and I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said. I don’t think any of the elite programs in any sport are actively recruiting. Maybe to a small extent, but not some crazy amount. It’s always the poverty programs saying “oh so these kids just show up?” Sarcastically. And the answer to that is yes, at some point they do just start showing up.

quote:I dont care if they do recruit, as long as the kids are legally playing, I dont care how or when they decided to attend the school they are going to. We are open enrollment, it took ASH more than a couple years of being the best FB program in our area to start seeing kids angling to go there versus other programs. You see in now. But they are sitting out a year as required by LHSAA. That is their choice. If we can have a break thru year in baseball, you will see the same thing there I would imagine, the problem is that Pineville, Tioga, and ASH are about on the same level historically in baseball. Add in Menard with a good program and you just see the talent get divided up quite a bit. Between TIoga, ASH, and Pineville you had a ton of soph starting for each program, and although they are talented you just wont compete with more mature players. Yes, there are Freshmen and soph that are ready, but you cant rely on that as the bedrock of a program and get over the hump.

pretty much. barbe and sam houston doesnt have to recruit, neither do the other programs
il tell a story....the year (2019) Barbe beat Sam Houston in the finals, random guy walks up to a friend of mine and ask what he knows about the two programs....buddy tells him and ask why....guy says they are from east texas area and he has a kid that is really good and they are moving. The guy said he was trying to figure out where they wanted to buy a house as he worked remote so didnt matter where he lived for work. Sam houston nor barbe were recruiting the kid, didnt even know who he was
was told kid ended up at sam houston. So yea some times the kids just show up. But 99% of the time the kids are just home grown. Everyone starting for barbe has been in the area since they were 12. Littleton moved from sulphur for HS.
