WIth a kid the same age as Griffin, we just didnt come across any really good teams from the LC area in the travel ball world. Smash was good at 8s and 9s but went away, none of the Champions teams were ever competitive in Majors, and I am not sure they were even Majors teams, I remember alot of AAA teams. It is just a surprise to me at how good they are when they hit the schools there. Not a knock on the kids or anything of that sort. When you divide 40 plus kids among four top level programs it just seems they woudl have been spanking everyone locally. Maybe the studs went out on national rosters early??

the studs in that class did go to national teams early and the sophomore studs mainly played for traction and teams like that. now the junior class played for that southpaw team, i think the first one, that ended up being very very good.

so for a while after bullet baseball went away about when most of these kids were 11 or so, they bounced around alot beause there was no more elite team from the area. LA Athletes was for a while but that fell apart too.

now Luccini is coming on the seen. The youngest Cecchini, Gavin, started the brand and they make uniforms, gloves, batting gloves and teams took that name. A lot of the players that are going to go to barbe seem to be drifting toward that 1 org starting with the current 13u kids. but a lot of kids are still spread out. I know of studs playing for traction, gold culture, teams from Lafayette, Beaumont etc

I have posted this before, but

i have noticed that the kids that are in the swla tend to peak later & the travel teams are not as good. I think part of that is teams from this area dont play nearly as much ball as the teams from some other areas. The kids mainly train year around, start lifting at really young ages, and play lots of other sports in the fall. most teams around here do not play more than 1 or 2 fall tournaments and about 10-12 spring (late Feb-mid june)

also the kids start playing against the HS kids in summer ball in 7th grade and in some cases, like griffin, at 12.

Seems parents in the LC area are taking a long term approach than other areas where teams are playing 1000+ games.
