Still a thing. We had one at the house about a year ago. My senile old daddy let them in the door and when my wife and I got home at nearly 10 PM they were all in the living room having a very friendly conversation. They had vacuumed the whole house and had been high pressure selling my dad for about 5 hours apparently. They started in on us when we got home and I told them we had a vacuum cleaner and were going to go upstairs to bed and would most likely be busy fricking for about 45 minutes (that was an exaggeration) and would be pretty sleepy after that and I was prone to bad behavior if my sleep was interrupted and there was a respectable arsenal upstairs that could be used to facilitate that bad behavior. According to my dad they stayed about 2 hours after that, packed their shite and left.

The women in my family when I was a kid thought more of a Tupperware bowl and lid than they did any person in their home. Had a fire broke out and anyone of them had to choose between an orange Tupperware bowl and lid or the 3 month old baby lying asleep in its crib she'd be standing outside the inferno hollering for someone to save the baby...all the while clutching that bowl as if it was the holy grail...
