Funny story: A friend of mine's wife went to USM. After graduation they hired her back to be in charge of running a big anniversary and alumni party they wanted to throw. She was in charge of the party. But she had zero budget. They told her she had to raise the money from the alumni on the front end to pay for their own reunion party.

Anyhow, so she reached out to Jimmy Buffett to ask him to do a 90 minute reduced price acoustic show at a Hattiesburg restaurant. She was gonna try to sell tickets for $1000 each to kick off the fundraise. Buffett said No.

The next wealthiest guy who had ever attended USM was some guy who owned a bunch of Wendy's franchises. She reached out to him and also got a big zero.

She quit after a year, and they never raised any money or had the big celebration event. It just went away.

That's what you need to know about USM.
