What are the measurements on the grill top?
It looks to me like there is a groove between the cooktop and the piece with the lip that overhangs the controls. I would guess there is a hole there where the waste drips down.

I see the groove you are talking about. The commercial grills I worked on during my hamburger chef days was a lot larger than that and likely easier to use during the sometimes hectic burger cooking process. Keeping the gril clean is a must when a hundred burger patties pass over the grill during a two hour supper rush.
