Home is where you make it as long as some family is there with you, traveling employees have to accept that and the successful ones figure out a way to make new places home.
Midland is like most west Texas, hot, dry, flat and kinda barren compared to parts of Louisiana but Midland has had a lot of growth in recent years due to activity in the Permian Basin and the list of major companies out there reads like a Who’s Who in the petroleum world. Many workers like yourself are moving there and making it work because of high paying jobs. My son’s best friend is about to graduate from Texas Tech with an engineering degree, his girlfriend is also; Chevron had them for a 3 month apprenticeship and offered them $150,000 per year each to come work in Midland. So a young couple, just out of college, zoomed from the point questioning where they’d be job hunting to making $300,000 their first year in Midland. It was enough to make them love the idea of moving to Midland Tx.
