Was redfall and starfield supposed to be incredible major releases?

Redfall should have been delayed or trashed, but people are saying it is much-improved now. I don't know. I've never been a fan of that sort of game and haven't played it.

Starfield is easily one of the best game releases of 2023.

My understanding is Diablo 4 is a let down and heavy micro transactions?

I'll let you know once it hits Game Pass. From what I've heard it needs more end game content. Maybe that will be fixed by then.

Sony has no first-party games coming out in 2024 and only had one in 2023. Literally anything is better than that.

Danny O'Dwyer with some thoughts:

Unsurprising to hear more Xbox games are coming out on other platforms. The margins on the bigger games just aren't what they used to be (rising dev costs, flat prices on games, little growth in core audience) and it's especially bad on Xbox where Game Pass eats into game sales.

quote:

It looks like they're starting with low risk games, to sell more copies and highlighting the value (and now, the early access) of Game Pass. But it's probably going to trend in that direction for a few years. They didn't spend billions on all those studios to not sell games.

all I care about is that games are funded. exclusivity has never meant anything to me, and it doesn't for the vast majority of devs I've talked to about this. they just want people to enjoy their games & make enough money to keep doing it. the console wars are marketing theater

Brother….

Sony could take a 10 year hiatus on exclusives and still have a better portfolio of exclusives.
