I was assured by a deputy, via phone call, there would be no need for me to go on campus that day. Every available parish deputy, Gonzales PD, and 2 SWAT teams were on campus. I didn't leave the house, I didn't want to get in anyone's way of doing their job.

However, it was the first time I gathered together "stuff" to prepare to go before a call came in. That's when I realized I should have bought protection some time ago.
