Id agree if building a new weapon. Also keep tour build light weight as possible. If you add a thermal and a can to your build it can get to heavy.
Not sure where the original poster is hunting. Terrain makes a huge difference in caliber choice. We hunt in and around thick undergrowth. I prefer a heavier round to knock them down quickly since you don’t want to be tracking, mostly get one good shot and to cover my bases when I dont get the perfect shot selection.
