Yes but it did not croak. The neighbors across the street had some kind of Jack Russell terrier mix. It used to run across the street and bite my 5 year old when he was in our front yard. He would pinch bite and not break the skin. They did nothing when I told them it harassed my kid whenever they let it out the front door. The6 had a fenced 8n back yard but let it go out front to dump.
It was on the main drive outside of our neighborhood one day and a small dog ran out in front of me. I looked in the rear view mirror as I drove and saw it sprawled out on the road. I did not know it was the terror of the neighborhood. I made the block and went back to pick it up and look at the collar/name tag to identify the owners. It was gone.
Three days later I see the neighbor’s dog wearing a cast on one leg and it can’t run across the street to bite my kid.
I never admitted that it may have been me that ran over the dog.

If you're incapable of avoiding hitting a dog, you probably shouldn't be driving.
