They are athletes the same way golfers and baseball players are athletes.
Their sport just doesn’t require being in good physical shape to be good (Prince Fielder, John Daily, etc).

Wrong. F1 requires a high level of fitness. The fact that you compared F1 drivers to fat athletes shows you're way off base here.
