At that point I think I’d be like “look, go talk to your manager and find out how much it’s going to cost me to get this shite removed.”

They’re mandating it as a way to hide some extra profit. Fine. But surely it’s not 100% profit for the dealership. There has to be some middle ground where it makes the sale worthwhile for them without you wasting $4k on useless shite.
