You get f$&ked up in public in a big mass of other f$&ked up people while dancing, eating tailgate food, and having free stuff thrown to you. The appeal is obvious.

It just doesn’t appeal to everyone or everyone at every stage of their life. Mardi Gras is most fun if you are a small kid, a young adult who likes to drink, a parent of smallish kids, or if you ride in a krewe on a float. Being on a float is crazy fun.
