2024 is by no means an easy schedule. But you can argue it is favorable. I suspect the preseason top 5-6 of the SEC will look like this:
1. Georgia
2. Texas
3. Alabama or Ole Miss
4. Alabama or Ole Miss
5. LSU or Missouri or Tennessee
6. LSU or Missouri or Tennessee
7. LSU or Missouri or Tennessee
Each of those teams has a QB who has played at a high level, but none of them has done so in every game like Daniels did. Nussmeier has only a limited sample but clearly the ability is there. His play has been similar to Dart in that he makes great throws but forces a couple of throws every game. The team which gets the most consistency at the position will likely prevail.
Milroe won't be able to win big games without the supporting cast from last year. Missouri may have just caught lightning in a bottle this year and may slip a notch but still be good. Tennessee seems to find a way to underperform each year. Texas may end up with a QB controversy if Ewers begins the year inconsistently.
If the new coaches and players can improve the LSU defense to a top 40 level and Nussmeier is the player we believe he is the Tigers could land somewhere in the top 3 which could likely qualify for a playoff spot.
