Not a comment about Louisiana specifically BUT
There are several segments of the population (women, black, and LGBTQ) that have enjoyed unquestioned “protesting” and victim status.
This mass of immigration will change that quickly. Those two groups don’t want to share their “victim attention” but there are only so many minutes to go around.
