If large stones were rolled on site and then shaped, wouldn’t there be large amounts of material that were removed? There could be, I don’t know. I don’t study pyramids.

Thinking about this, shaping and rolling the stones to the site and into position actually makes a lot of sense.
If you know the circumference of the stone you can accurately measure the distance it needs to travel to be in perfect position. You reshape the top of the stone flat and then use the remaining curvature to roll and lever it into position with the flat top becoming the base of the stone. Now the top and sides can be shaped to the correct angle. Fill the interior with earth and roll the next level of stones into position and repeat the process until you reach the peak. Once completed, remove the material from the inside and decorate it with paintings, carving or whatever. It would still require serious man power but would be significantly easier than dragging square and rectangular shaped stones into position by sheer brute force.

There is probably a hole in this idea somewhere, but it’s fun to think about.
