No, maybe worse.

There was a bad overall atmosphere around LSU at that point. Keeping more guys from the prior staff could have left a lingering bad taste, instead of the fresh start. And given the heavy attrition that had occurred by the bowl (most of the players had already left by the time Kelly got the job), you were still going to be shorthanded on the field.

House wasn't a problem in 2022. But without his collapse in 2023, we don't get a revamp of the staff now, which includes a better D Line coach/recruiter, among others. And I think Baker needed to get some time as an SEC DC, he definitely wouldn't have been promoted from LB coach at the time... so we're still looking at a different DC now.
