we've all got to have something, right?

Absolutely, I'm not looking to eliminate caffeine but caffeine seems (for me) to have an effective life of several hours; that's great in the morning. But taken too late in the day and it interferes with my sleep.

Enter Zyn nicotine for someone who doesn't use tobacco. Nicotine has an effective life at best half as long as caffeine, so I can take a pouch or two late in the afternoon and still sleep like a baby.

As I mentioned previously, I haven't developed any withdrawal symptoms and maybe that's because I don't use it often. But the flipside is I'm not impressed with the boost I get from it.

try this, make sure to get the 'advanced' version rather than the standard one as it has a blend of caffeine sources rather than synthetic:

200mg per dose which is great for me - my wife cuts them in half. Available at Walmart, Amazon, and most vitamin/health food stores online

ETA: as a nurse I'm sure you know this but for the benefit of others, make sure you stay well hydrated as caffeine is a diuretic and experiment with taking it on empty stomach vs with food - personally I like the hit on empty stomach much better

2 hour half life for nicotine, 6 for caffeine. Some people have a gene that makes them metabolize caffeine slower, as well.
