I'm with you here.

Kelly was already at Notre Dame, and had it humming along with 10-11 win seasons every year. I don't believe he'd have left Notre Dame for Michigan, as he was already at "an elite" Northern program.

He took the LSU job, I think, to satisfy his own curiosity- could his system work at an SEC/Southern powerhouse? He got the salary in the right range, and more importantly he has the time to build it up- that longterm contract.

Had he stumbled at LSU, I could see him jumping back up North, to a more familiar landscape. But he hasn't; 2 straight 9 win regular seasons, with a win over Saban's Alabama team and a Heisman winner... with a program he's admitted isn't ready to compete for a title yet.

All homerism and trash talking aside, I think Kelly is extremely happy here.
