Apparently Aaron Slayter didn’t manage his money very well.He also owned 7,000 acres across Rigolette bayou from me.3500 acres he had leased out for farming.
The other 3500 acres he developed into a hunting resort type operation.Built a really nice house for a lodge.Had a website advertising for hunting. It only lasted one year,he went bankrupt, lost everything.
The land was sold at auctions, house was also I believe.
I was told he had 6 million in the Horseshoe Dr. house, also bought the two house behind it and paid a pretty penny for them.I know the people that owned the 2 houses, very nice houses but he offered a price they couldn’t refuse.

The retired trooper in the hit and run,I worked with his wife. One of nicest people ever,I feel really bad for her.I met him at a party,he seemed like a nice guy.He drank a couple beers, that was all.

Doesn’t excuse the incident but I can’t imagine why anyone would ride a bicycle on Horseshoe Dr.Narrow,no shoulder and people drive way too fast on it.
I had an old boss that was killed few blocks from there, she ran off the road in a curve and hit a tree.

Imagine if he had paid merely $1m cash for a nice house in Alexandria or even Pineville if he had wanted more land(not like he was just spreading out there on Horseshoe Drive). Just imagine what that $5m+ surplus could be doing for him to this day...
