Just responded to say it is not all in the Fed's hands.
Did you ignore to whom and to what I was responding?
Anyhow in response to the data you provided about first freeze, I don't believe it's so much the first freeze that is so impactful as the timing and duration of sustained freezes north of us. Freezing low temps for a night or 2 aren't as impactful as North of the Louisiana/Arkansas border staying below freezing for a week like what happened last week and happened last year that helped boost the season in our area.

Only USFWS can decide to allow regular duck to run later. LDWF had absolutely no say in that. They only get to set seasons within the parameters set by the feds.

Nobody said they were. But the guy I responded to said the first freeze used to occur in October in the Delta.
The weather data shows that this is patently false.
I've said exactly what you just did in several duck hunting threads here in the last few years. People bitch about our weather conditions, but you can kill ducks in 70 degree weather in LA if there's alot of snow and ice and little food and water available up north.
