Good advice and if you can avoid the rubber boots. When its really cold or when i ice fish, i wear boots w a removable insulated liner and good quality merino wool socks (smartwool, wigwam, etc). If i will sit for a long period add a chemical hand warmer into the toes.

I switched to alpaca this season. I hunt out of a saddle or from a chair on the ground, so don't have any protection from the wind or a heater available like you would in a box stand.
So far, they seem to do a better job than my merino wool socks. My feet run cold, and I can get to lower temps before I need to even consider using my heated socks (can often just throw in some hand warmers instead).
