Private schools have a massive advantage in that they can actually discipline kids. A public school system has the duty to educate the kid. They can move them to alternative schools if they are trouble makers but they can't stay forever. They generally go back to their home school at some point. A private school can just kick a kid out if they aren't taking care of their business because there are 10 kids on a waiting list for that spot. My wife and I graduated from public schools but no chance as a resident of BR my kids would ever step foot in a public school in this city.

This!

I'm a public school kid, but my kids are private. No way in this day and age I'd want public, esp. with all the shite I've heard going down in Calcasieu Parish public schools.
