Cajun and Country Singer and Grammy Award winner Jo-el Sonnier has passed away at the age of 77. Sonnier performed in Llano, Texas last night and shortly after his performance had a major heart attack. He performed his last song “Tear Stained Letter” and received a standing ovation. Shortly after is when he had the heart attack.

Sonnier was born in Rayne, La. andwas known for many hits like “No More One More Time”, “Come on Joe”, and “Tear Stained Letter.” Originally signed to Mercury Nashville Records, Sonnier charted several minor singles on the Billboard country charts in the late 1970s. By the late 1980s, he had signed to RCA Records, breaking through with the Top Ten hits “No More One More Time” and a cover of Richard Thompson‘s “Tear Stained Letter”.

Passed away after just finishing an encore.... I would think a lot of musicians would want to be on stage all the way to the end.
