The precip, if we get any, will be later this evening or overnight.

The days of school getting canceled at 5:30 am before the bus routes started is over, for better or worse.

Tons of parishes announced in the same 30/45 minute timeframe, so it’s safe to say that it was a centralized decision.

You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Parents complained about the district I worked in not calling it until 5:30 because they couldn’t “be prepared”. Then the district made an effort to call it the night before and people bitched if the forecast changed.

Now they’re doing NTI on days they have to call in-person school for weather and parents are bitching about that.

May as well do what you think is best for your district staff and employees at this point since it apparently doesn’t matter what you do.

When schools wait until the last minute to cancel, it puts parents in a bind as they need to figure out what to do with their younger kids.

It's much better to tell parents the night before, so they can plan, then it is at 6 am to say hey instead of a 9 am arrival time, it is now closed all day.
