... if this is true, than the new athletic director, Troy Dannen just brought the jinx with him. The Tulane jinx --- by making University of Washington into the new stepping stone of college coaching.

I am surprised he's leaving. He got to the title game this season at Washington. He can recruit talent and he can coach. I think the path in Seattle is easier and there's less pressure. He can go 9-3 and make the playoffs there. If he goes 9-3 at Bama he can make the playoffs but he'll catch heat. You can't please the fans at Bama unless you win multiple national championships.
If you look at past dynasties and retirements there was a lag between greatness at many schools. Switzer, Bryant, Osbourne, the Miami coaches, and at many other places. I think he'll do well, but will that be good enough after three years in Alabama? 9-3, 10-2, and 9-3 without any national championships gets him fired.
