The last time 'Bama hired, they went out and stole Saban from the NFL, 2 years after he won a NC with LSU.
In all the years since then, the biggest "poach" hires have been Fisher (FSU ---> A&M), Riley (Oklahoma --> USC) and Kelly (ND --> LSU) unless I'm missing someone.
I don't even know who 'Bama could have hired with a similar stature to Nick Saban.

Really? Because post portal/NIL Saban (you know, when he could no longer stock pile players and everyone else could start doing what he was always allowed to get away with) he really hasn’t been all that impressive.
I’m sure many will just go “but muh championships” and look no further into it than that and that’s fine, but an actual deep dive into his career shows that when he didn’t have the talent upper hand, he really wasn’t all that and a bag of skittles.
