Straight up?
Thats easy. Of course you take Saban over Miles. I was conflicted even back then because I knew how good Saban was. I don't blame the school. They made the safe and logical choice. Les had been solid and everyone knew 2007 could be special.
Let's look at your question from a different lens.
Programs that hinged on one man...built by one man...how do those programs fare longterm?
Through what we went through with Saban we went to Miles had success then it peaked, so we tried again, Ed had one of the best seasons ever...now we have BK and are primed to potentially run the West
As envious as I can be over what Bama was able to do over that span...a program is a living breathing thing...would I rather LSUs historic run with Saban or LSUs consistent relevance in football and the chance to start another dynasty type run...
I've already suffered the pain and the price emotionally, mentally from what Bama became
I'm ready to enjoy what LSU can be. I'm ready to watch Bama try to replace that man
I understand possibilities but I also understand probability
Most Bama fans today would rather be in our shoes than theirs and damn for the first time in a long time it feels good

This is absolutely false

It could have been us. It should have been us.
