You are wrong on your Michigan St take. They wanted to keep him there. He left because he said he would never have an even playing field there because that xstate and part of the country favored Michigan. He couldn't get enough of the top players. Saban said that when he came here. He said one of the reasons he chose LSU was that he felt that the right coach could win championships at LSU. He knew that he would not play 2nd fiddle at LSU. We were always the top school in our state and he recognized that.

You are missing the point about Emmert and the BoS prior to Saban and the evolution of the football culture from complacency to winning. Without a significant mindset change by Emmert (and convincing the BoS) we don't get Saban to confirm that cultural shift from complacency to winning.
