I just ordered the DF64 Gen 2 and am soooo close to pulling the trigger on a Breville Dual Boiler. Like the idea of having a dual so I can make back to back drinks for family and friends.
But I guess I should research this Legato. So it’s a single boiler but has a separate heating mechanism for the steamer?

There isn’t another dual boiler that hits Brevelle’s price point.
Also check out the Profitec Pro 300. That’s also a small dual boiler but a cut above in build quality. It may sound like I should be getting a kickback from the Germans at Profitec, but I’m just very familiar with their machines. I was in Portland a few months ago and spent an afternoon at Clive Coffee trying machines. Those Profitec machines were all impressive. That’s why I bought one.

Dual boiler is hard to beat if you’re willing to spend the money.
Correct, the Legato uses a single boiler for espresso and a thermoblock for the steam. So steaming is near instant and doesn’t rely on the boiler. Drawback is the steam isn’t as strong as something like a dual boiler. There are other machines that use a similar setup and might be more premium but can’t remember which ones. There is also going to be a more premium version of the Legato available later in the year. The Breville Bambino Plus uses similar tech with a thermocoil, but doesn’t have a PID.
