Some people just have a drive to be busy….women in particular IMO. If you take tasks away them they’ll fill that time with new tasks. Saying you work a lot is a saying “I’m important” and “I contribute”. It’s a measure of self worth…similar to haw some people want to brag about how early they get up or how many hours they work a week.

I say this now as my wife who hasn’t had a job in 15 years is boxing up a bunch of wine corks that she saved and apparently sold on eBay for $25.
