This is just a compilation of things i could compile and know are 100% for sure confirmed by SQE themselves. I included some pics here and there but theres wayyyyyy more screen shots out there.
I am extremely interested in how they utilize the friendship system or relationship system or whatever. As I understand it as it has always been for FF its a completely unseen mechanic meaning you cant check your score with another character. It does seem these will have much much bigger implications than just who goes on a date with cloud.
1. As I said some of the side quest in this game, while i assume most will include most or all the current party like the one SQE showed off for Red the party was there but it was entirely focused on Red 13 and Cloud. You had some various chances to choose dialogue options I assume they impact the score with that friend. IF youre relationship is poor not only can you not synergize optimally in combat nor do a team attack of any type it seems like it could actually bring actual negative impacts in some way
2. Story: I think they have a fair amount of room to play with this here. The major beats will all hit the same up till the forgotten capital and Aeriths death. But all of these minor stories FF7 has 100s of them could use this. Take Barrent and Dyne in prison which is imo one of the S tier FF7 b tier plots, youre relationship status with barret could effect how that plays out pertaining to interparty relationships etc etc
One final thing I keep seeing interviews with Hamaguchi (spelling)the game director calling Seph a protagonist in Rebirth? How the frick is that going to happen
