I was watching a September flight to Amsterdam on Expedia. It started out around $1400 but after several weeks it dropped to $640. I tried to book but when I selected that same flight it said prices increased to $1200. I don't know if Expedia is unreliable or I just didn't book soon enough. I'm waiting for prices to drop again.

I cannot say it enough. Get yourself frequent flyer accounts with the airlines (they are free people) and book directly through the airline. You have more leverage if things go south and, shocking I know, you accumulate miles and can benefit by getting free flights from time to time. Stop using Expedia!
