I shot him at 37 yards north of my stand and got lucky that he ran in a half a circle and went down 25 yards west of my stand.

Now, that is real lucky. I gave up hunting years ago due to cost and availability since I mostly hunted ducks, small game like rabbit, squirrels and the occasional hog.

However, friends of mine that still hunt deer every year tell me how they had to track a deer following a blood trail quite a ways after the shot.
