When my kids were little, I had a “social” membership that included 16 rounds(or 32 nines).
I never got through 16 rounds in a given year. Never practiced.
I enjoyed spending time with the kids, but neither of them got into golf so I did not get back into until they were almost grown.
Golf requires time, money, and health.
Rare to have all three.

I was a member at a club when the kids were pre-school age and was still able to play a fair amount. Once they started playing soccer, baseball, softball, football, basketball, and volleyball that all changed. Dropped the membership since soccer, club volleyball, and baseball were year round. Once they got into high school I was able to play some.
Long story short, you may have to pause for a while but it gets better. Enjoy those kids while you can, it goes fast.
