I don't get why people in Lafayette think it's alright for them to go by the University of Louisiana when thats not their name. If that was the case shouldn't ULM have as much a right to use the same name. The point is your the University of Louisiana at Lafayette not the University of Louisiana

they think their better than LSU so you would have to imagine the same with ULM

FWIW, it's shorter and less awkward to say (one syllable I know, but still).

At least the people I know who say that use it for that reason.

It doesn't particularly bother me. ULL fans in general bother me.

Well technically it's the University of Texas at Austin but I don't see anyone calling it "UTA".

i think they've done a good job of branding themselves as "UL" in the state, and in 10-15 years this conversation will be moot.

I say congrats to them, UL is a great title to go by when recruiting and whatnot (to the university in general, not athletics)

i call them UL because that's what they want to be called, and because its easy.

ETA: You're just bitching because it will be bad for tech if they completely lose any identification as a "directional" or "regional" school, but rather as a University representing the whole state.

And what's going to stop ULM from going by UL?

don't call them UL because its what they want, who cares what they want. Call them ULL because that's who they are. I say that just to piss them off more

in Louisiana, when you say UL everyone knows who you're talking about.

and like someone said above no one calls LSU, LSU A&M.

ULL > ULM by virtue of better women, food and culture IMO.

But North Louisiana sucks, so your point is a moot one.
