smoke point of lard is 370ish. Smoke point of peanut oil is 440ish. All you are doing is (slightly) lowering the smoke point of your cooking oil.

nothing wrong with deep fried bacon though LOL

And making the earl taste more better. I do two turkeys and the second one is always better after the oil is “seasoned.”
