No clue who is behind it here.

I don't even know who benefitted from causing chaos in nazi Germany. Several years of brainwashing to convince germans that Jews were subhuman monsters. I don't believe it was because the people instigating that shite genuinely believed Jews were monsters.. it was probably just a means to create division and chaos.

May be thinking too much though, and may just be a case of governments using division tactics to keep populations divided.. so that it's impossible for a population to unite and look at the government with scrutiny. Germans were focused on the division rhetoric and ignored what their government was doing. We're the same way. USSR also employed that strategy.
