He was always going to survive this year if we won at least 7 games. Firing him does not improve the organization next year. A new coach (or even a new GM) would be severely handcuffed next year with the contracts we have on the books.

He'll absolutely be fired next year if we don't make the playoffs.

Here's the problem. The team is at a crossroads where some of the decisions we make with the restructures THIS offseason change how long a true rebuild will take. For example, if they DON'T restructure Carr, they can get off him after 2024. But if they do, they can free up another $25M in cap space for this offseason, which allows them to make more moves - but this also effectively makes us stuck with Carr for 2 more years after next year. My fear is that we will make those aggressive moves again to try and run it back for a coach who isn't going to be here long term anyway, suck again, and now we're stuck in an even worse position and are realistically expanding our rebuild out to at least 4-5 years.

Gayle needs to sell the team. Preferably to a new owner who gives a shite and will keep the team in the city.
