I liked him and still think his best days are in front of him.

I don't disagree with this provided the water isn't soured by his next year or so at Florida.

I just don't see the piling on him by so many. It's not like he did or said anything to hurt LSU.

I agree with you here, too. I think that is mostly from two groups. One is the group that hates anything associated with UL Lafayette, there is a two-way animus there that I think started fairly small on the USL side then blew up on both sides when the whole name change thing first kicked up in the early eighties. The other are people reacting to the hyper Napier group that seemed to be captained by a couple of media members who kept bringing him up for a while. It's time to move past all that IMO.

Never really liked him, kinda like Ryan Day,. Just comes off as an arrogant prick

I find he comes off much better now than he ever has. That was a thing that put me off on him for a bit. Not his coaching, just his personality which I like better now. Maybe it P&G glasses but I don't think it is.

who hasn't really done shite other than make it to the Championship game once and was beat like a rented Mule by Saban. That's with Notre Dame getting the bias they always get from the media when they have a decent team.

I really don't agree with this much. He took over adown ND and did a good job reestablishing them. He did get the ND bump, though, that is true. He was also hamstrung there by some of the universities rules regarding recruits. He left every place he coached prior to ND better than when he got there. He also played in 3 straight and won the 2 staright championships at GVS in DII. During the time that Orgeron was at LSU LSU played in 2 NY6 Bowls (both with Burrow) and 1 CFP which they won in historical fashion. But then they collapsed. In that same period, ND under Kelly got to 3 NY6 bowls and CFP semifinals, losing to the eventual National Champion both times.

he didn't inherit the quality players either O or Miles did.

So we're just going to pretend O didn't start off with Danny Etling at QB and typical transfers sit a year?

No one can look at the rosters and seriously tell me O came into a worse situation. He inherited his job 1/3 of the way through the 2016 season and kept most of the staff put together by Miles. He was already the recruiting coordinator starting in 2015. There were no mass defections nor were there as many recruiting commitment withdrawals. And Etling was a solid QB. After he had to replace more staff members O's deficiencies as a HC started to show plus he seemed to lose focus or at least shift it to non football things.
