It quite literally prompted a rule change. PI (for a time) was something coaches could challenge after that call.
It's a call that almost assuredly changed the outcome of the game. If Lewis is not interfered with it is a first down. If the flag is thrown it is a first down. Either way, it would have allowed the Saints to run the clock down an try a short game winning FG with time expiring. It wasn't a regular season game that took away a perfect game. It was a botch call that kept a team from playing for a Championship.
