Take the damn alternator off, and take it to O’Reily’s. They’ll test it and give you a new one if it’s bad. It’ll take you an hour tops, and that’s if you don’t know what the frick you’re doing.

I had a relatively brand new Buick that died while driving. turns out it was a faulty wiring harness that connected the gear shift lever to the ignition switch on the steering col

That's a lot more work than jump starting it and holding the brakes on so the lights draw power and turning on the headlights. If it dies its the alternator.

It's a 2012 Nissan Murano and I'm sure it takes longer than one hour to get the alternator off of it. I've been working on vehicles since I was a teen/young adult, so I know a little bit but I'm not a professional mechanic. When I got my new truck in 2020 I told the wife I was done working on vehicles. Just not wasting my free time to do that anymore.
