Go to On3, and they have a great NIL breakdown by player. As they have said, it is an estimate of what the player believes their value to be based on information they are provided. That is what that number represents.
As for your statement about LSU not pumping out money, you are correct. And, that is part of the issue. Schools like aTm, Texas, Bama, Georgia, and others at the very top, have collectives that are associated with the schools themselves, in essence daring the NCAA to do something to them. If the NCAA were to do so, they are prepared to go to court and challenge if need be. Or, in the case of the SEC (and possibly even Big 10), they pull away from the NCAA altogether and form their own competitive league, which has already proven to be much more dominant and lucrative to the NCAA than the NCAA is to the SEC. It's like a big game of chicken right now. All you have to do is look at what just happened this past week with the ruling in the courts on the transfer portal restrictions the NCAA was trying to reimpose. When the courts put the TRO on them, they threw a fit for a second, then folded like a wet suit. I think LSU wants to go all in like Bama, Georgia, and others. The boosters and the school, like most other programs, have just been playing it safe just in case for now. Remember, we are only in the 2nd year of NIL. As I mentioned, Livvy, Jayden, and Angel have shown you can be successful in the NIL world. Malik is just outside the Top 50. On that list, go see how many high schoolers are on it. That is what's scary. Wait til they start paying 8th graders.
