It's interesting to think since everything that Bama had going for it with regards to Young and the Heisman is gone.
They no longer have a coordinator on offense with skins in the game at QB. BOB is gone. Kiffin and Sark are gone. both Heisman winners in 2020* and 2021 are under BOB.
Both 1st roudn QBs including a #1 pick are looking atrocious in the NFL. Mac is almost out of the league it seems and Young is making JR look like a good pick given what Carolina gave up for him.
Bama OL is nowhere near what it used to be, and while
Milroe has improved, he is still not a good "QB". His passing skills are suspect and he relied mostly on his running ability and an awful defensive year in the SEC.
LSU's defense was historically awful.
UK's defense was horrible by their recent standards.
Auburn's defense controlled Bama with half the talent if that.
Arky's awful team controlled them.
A&M's decent defense held them back.
Outside of the UGA game and may Texas, they didn't face a complete team all year and needed UGA's two best receiving options to be out their on one leg each to even keep it to a one score win.
Oh and needed shotty officiating and typical SEC review bias to not review a blatant incomplete pass that led to Bama's eventual difference in the game.
Bama is a good, but not great team that got a ton of breaks this year and was heavily carried by their excellent defense. They are not a program built to develop QBs for the pros as Tua is literally the only one doing anything and he's nothing without Tyreke.
