If they really do a 1+7 model then I don't see how LSU/OU becomes an annual game. Red River Shootout will always trump that.

But I also don't see a reason to think they'll actually do that... it's not like they ever got around to creating a reasonable rotation during the 14-team era

It seems like the open secret is that the SEC wants to go to nine games, but it won't do so until it can renegotiate with ESPN. So I wouldn't be surprised if we get some weird transition schedule where they try to keep the 'big' rivalry games and other regular marquee matchups (ex LSU/Alabama) intact, and then fill it out with other good games for TV. Which might point to LSU/OU?

I'm just happy that I might actually be able to go to the game next year after seeing family for Thanksgiving
