Was that person that owned the 1911 a volunteer in French service? Verdun was in 1916 and the US didn't enter the war until 1917.

All the other dates, all being 1918 battles, make sense with him losing the first one in mid-1918.

It doesn't matter, just wondering if the guy was a volunteer. Very cool gun.
