It certainly could have been more over the top pushing trans and racial wokeness (although that was certainly evident), but dude...that was fricking odd.

I felt like I was watching some sort of mashup of the Horace Derwent party characters from the Shining, Cirque Du Soleil clowns, The houseguests from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, an Al Jolson movie, and a Hanna Barbara variety show featured dance number from the 70s.

It was too surreal to be a genuine tribute to those older productions and oddly disconnected from...any other touchstone I can think of. Something about the tone of it was just off.

If you had imagined worse I recommend putting your considerable imagination to work and giving Stephen King some good competition.
