That optionn is not being offered. What is being offered is a very gradual prisoner-hostage exchange combined with a cease fire. This would allow Hamas to continue in charge of Gaza and perpetuate the status quo ante. That is unacceptable to Israel.

They could feed the prisoners some sort of slow acting poison, 'a la Breaking Bad.
The trouble is that Hamas isn't telling the truth about giving the hostages back either, so...
