Ignoring exactly what we’re upgrading for now, what’s your total budget for this upgrade?
$500-$600 max. This was just supposed to be a quick fix...not looking to break the bank. And hoping that whatever we'd add would get the computer a few more years down the road and at which point it would be his issue to deal with.

And look, I helped build the thing with a YouTube video last time and the PC Part Builder to ensure nothing clashed, but I have little understanding of what's here. You'll need to explain what the CPU/GPU/PSU are if those can even be switched out in my range.

CPU = processor
GPU = graphics card
PSU = power supply
I don’t think we can meaningfully upgrade both the CPU and GPU within your price range. Upgrading the CPU would give a smaller boost, but would be the last processor upgrade on this platform before a full rebuild at some point in the future and would lay the foundation for potentially multiple GPU upgrades before then. A GPU upgrade would provide a larger immediate boost, but would just further exacerbate the issue that the CPU is already a problem.
