Yes, the app takes a large cut from the restaurants. Margins on food are thin.

Especially DoorDash and Uber Eats. They absolutely rape restaurants. That's why you see different prices on those apps for the same menu items.

It is the same, but to a lesser extent, for most online pickup orders. Most restaurants charge a dollar or two more for every item when the order is placed online. The Chinese joint we order from splits the cost with the customer (customer pays a dollar and the restaurant pays a dollar). Phone orders are the same price as dine-in, I'd just rather order online for the convenience.

Basically, if you're ordering online or an app, you are paying more no matter where you eat. It seems we have at least a thread a week with someone finally realizing this.
